Going to the Root

2 Corinthians 10:3-4: For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.(NKJV)Paul was trying to tell the church that we are human and we are living in a real world with real temptations and hard times. But as Christians we need to look through our spiritual eyes. We live in two worlds: a natural world and a spiritual world. They're both happening around us at the same time. When circumstances or temptations come up in your life, realize that there is more going on than you see on the surface. There is something deeper taking place on the spiritual battlefield.

The only way to get true victory over the enemy is through prayer, not just ordinary prayer, but prayer that goes to the root of the problem. As children of the living God, we must learn to pierce through the surface problems like sickness, depression, fear and the list could go on and on. We must get to the root! The only way to go past the surface is to enter the battlefield and use the weapons God has given us (Ephesians 6).

The verse above tells us that our weapons are mighty in God to overcome the strongholds of the Devil. Battles are won in your prayer closet through intercessory prayer and pulling down the strongholds the enemy has put in your life. Intercessory prayer is when you intercede over a specific need, you go past the surface by rebuking the enemy and letting him know who is in control. Don't stop praying until the victory is won. As a Christian you have the power over the Devil, but He's not going to give in without a fight. You must take the authority God has given you and lay an ax to the roots of your needs.
